Reading books for toddlers at an early stage helps them in many ways.

Books help kids in building the vocabulary and in understanding the structure of the story. Stories help kids in enhancing their imagination.

Books also help them in understanding and learning some important moral lessons of life. So, we all know the benefits of reading a book to toddlers are innumerable.

All those who are reading this post are aware of the importance of books in early childhood.

We know so many good things but implementing them in your daily life is tough. Many times we try but are not consistent in our efforts. We eventually give up choosing the easy option for us over the ideal one in our day to day life.

Let me share my experience.

My child was two years old when I sincerely realized he watches TV and mobile very often.

As my child was a picky eater, video on mobile and TV was a regular thing, especially at the time of feeding him.

I used to feel guilty.

But it was convenient.

Engaging my kid in some video and completing my household chores was something happening daily.

But my realization and guilt helped me in contemplating sincerely about eradicating this habit.

Luckily, we shifted to a new house, somehow the circumstances stood in favor, and we could not get our TV installed. For a week, I found my kid is happily going without asking me for TV. To entertain him, I used to tell him stories. Then gradually I bought some books to read for him.

When he showed his interest in books, I bought some more.  Like this I was able to reduce his screen time to zero.

In homes where English is not the primary spoken language, books in the English language introduced in the early years help the toddlers in understanding and speaking the language.

The only thing that can cease the screen time of kids is when parents induce creative and productive activities in the daily routine of their children.

Evolving a good habit in a child requires the full involvement of parents.

Parents have to divert, develop, and nurture good habits in their kids in a manner so that kids are not bored.

As I always mention in my posts, kids do not follow our advice; they follow our actions.

So we also have to be an ideal example for our children by not engaging ourselves in TV and mobiles all the time.

One thing more, do not refrain from spending money on books.

Remember spending money on books is not an expense. It is an investment, do it regularly and see the difference yourself.
