10 Fantastic Ways To Celebrate Christmas For Non-Christians

Christmas is celebrated by everyone irrespective of religion, so in this post, I would like to share some sustainable, and fantastic ways to celebrate Christmas for Non-Christians. This year has been different from the previous years we have seen in our lives. So we should not expect to celebrate any festival or weddings also lavishly as we use to do. 

My Christmas as a Child

I am not a Christian, but studying in a convent school gave me an insightful peek about the festival. I still remember as a child participating in Christmas nativity play in school and repeating the same stage play at home with my siblings and cousins on Christmas Eve. We used to go to church around Christmas time and sometimes got the chance to attend the practice session of Christmas Choirs in Church. My mom wasn’t good at baking the cake, so we use to make sure we buy a Christmas cake from some bakery, and after singing Christmas carols from my singing book, we use to cut the cake on the evening of 25 December. I remember my mother making yummy crispy Aloo Tikki chaat for dinner.

My Christmas as a Mom

Now I have grown big, and I am a mom now I keep telling these tales to my son. We decorate a Christmas tree every year with decorative items we get from a local shop. Now each year I bake a cake for Christmas. My little kiddo ensures he gets a Christmas gift from Santa. 

We sing Christmas carols. 

My kid and I decorated a corner in my house with stuff I use to buy from the local market. We used to visit malls to see the beautiful decorations. I take my little one to the Church, so he knows more about the festival. Having Domino’s Pizza for dinner was our way to celebrate the festival.

But as I already mentioned, this year has been crazy and drastically different from previous years. Early this year, we came down to live with my husband’s parents because of the Pandemic. My plans for Christmas are also different.  So my 10 Fantastic Ways To Celebrate Christmas For Non- Christians are:

1. I don’t prefer plastic Christmas trees, so I have contacted the local nursery here, and they are going to deliver a little Araucaria Plant in a Ceramic pot. My son and I will decorate it with glitter balls, lights, some shiny fringes, and some of my DIYs.
2. Will use sustainable things for decoration and will forbid from buying decoration stuff made from paper and plastic. I have also decided to manage and reuse innovatively the decoration stuff left from previous events.
3. Same as last year, I am going to bake a cake for Christmas. I will bake a bigger one this year as there are lots of people in the house.
4. I have ordered a Thomas train set online for my little one, which I plan to give him as a gift from Santa Claus as he was asking for it for a long so he will be happily surprised by it. For the rest of the family members, I decided to give my hand made paintings and other DIY and an appreciation note to all family members. Yes, we forget to appreciate the good things in people around us like- our family, friends, and our in-laws but this time, I have decided to make them feel wonderful through this.
5. I have prepared some Christmas carols to sing on Christmas eve with my son.
6. I have decided to give away my kid’s preloved things like clothes, toys, and books with some sweets and cakes to an orphanage.
7. We decided to have a special prayer for the ones who departed because of Coronavirus and for their families. We will ask God to forbid us from our sins and protect the world from this deadly virus.
8. This year we have decided not to have outside food, so there will be home cooked food for Christmas, same as my mother use to do when I was young.
9. Although Malls and markets are open, I still prefer maintaining a social distance. So will refrain from visiting public places like malls and markets. I am persuading each and everyone not to roam out unnecessarily for fun and stay safe.
10. I will try to boost my immunity and remain more positive and happy, and believe in God to listen to our prayers and shower peace, health, and prosperity to everyone’s life soon.
