This includes different spices, flour, oil, and various other items used in cooking.

Besides adding taste to our food, these kitchen ingredients improve our overall health and skin. These easily available kitchen items do wonders for your beauty and immune system, therefore makes our kitchen the powerhouse of goodness.

We can utilize the goodness of our kitchen resources only when we are fully aware of the properties of various items and in which form it can benefit us. 

There are a lot of spices in our kitchen which makes our food tastier. 

But, do you know these spices have medicinal qualities and are like a tonic to improve health and beauty in many ways? 

The ingredients in our kitchen can be used as a remedy to cure various health conditions like cold, fever, cough, and indigestion. It helps in flushing toxins out from our bodies and making us look healthy and beautiful.

  • Basil Leaves (Tulsi)– It increases Immunity and fights against infection.
  • Green Cardamom (Hari Elaichi)– It has high levels of antioxidants, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It improves oxygen level in Blood when inhaled with steam. 
  • Black Pepper/ Peppercorn (Kali Mirch)– It is High in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It relieves cold and cough.
  • Bay Leaf (Tej Patta)– It is rich in carbohydrates and micronutrients which include Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Manganese, iron, and calcium.

  • Licorice (Mulethi) -Due to its expectorant and bronchodilator properties that it is known to provide relief from conditions like cough and bronchitis.
  • Gur– It fights Flu-like symptoms and boosts immunity. It cleanses the body and purifies the blood.
  • Honey– It increases the antioxidant value of your blood. It helps in suppressing coughs.

  • Lemon- It is a good source of vitamin C that helps in curing a cold. Applying lemon juice on the face during night removes black spots and makes skin clear and brighter.
  • Mint Leaves (Pudina)– It has an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Inhaling its fragrance breaks up phlegm and mucus, making it easier to expel. It is a natural remedy for reducing mouth odor.
  • Carom seeds (Ajwain)– It is rich in fiber, antioxidants, and other vitamins and minerals. It has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties. It prevents coughing and improves airflow in the respiratory tract.
  • Salt- Salt is added to steam inhalers and Some studies claim that it treats respiratory conditions, such as asthma, Chronic bronchitis, and allergies. It can be a natural Cleanser as Steam opens facial pores and cleanses our skin.
  • Fenugreek (Methi)- It relieves sore throat, when added to warm mustard oil and applied on the chest. It is beneficial in case of hair fall, when added to warm hair oil and applied on hair overnight.
  • Asafoetida (Hing)– The studies reveal that Asafoetida has many Antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial effects on our body. It is a great antioxidant and helps in the digestion of food.

  • Gram Flour (Besan)- Gram Flour Halwa is very tasty and soothing to eat in flu-like conditions. Gram flour, when mixed with curd or milk and applied on the face, makes the skin very clear and beautiful.
  • Milk- Milk is a complete food. It has Protein and Calcium. When you are sick and do not want to eat anything a cup of milk gives you energy and support. Milk can be added to various facial packs. It brightens your face.
  • Tea- Consuming tea during cold and cough like condition is very soothing. Gargle with warm tea water relieves from cough and throat infection.
  • Orange Peel- It can be used in place of vanilla essence in Cakes. It can be used as a face mask or scrub.
  • Garlic-It is helpful in numerous health conditions like the common cold, some researchers claim it to help reduce the risk of many kinds of cancer, Osteoarthritis, warts, Alopecia areata, and Obesity, etc. So, add it to your food for daily consumption and reap its benefits.
  • Tragacanth Gum Herb (Gond Katira)– It is rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, protein, and folic acid. It nourishes the bones, reduces back pain, joint pains, prevents heat stroke, improves skin, and boosts the immune system of the body.
