13 Amazing immunity-boosting measures for self-care during Covid19 to build immunity and gives relief from the common cold, cough, and fever.

As we know COVID19 is spreading around the world like a wildfire.

There are no medicines or vaccines to combat the deadly virus.

So, here are Some homemade measures to reduce and control the adverse effects of COVID19 for you and your family’s health.

Immunity Boosting Measures

  1. Exercise– Practice Yoga, Meditation, Pranayam, for 30 minutes every day. As said by Shilpa Shetty in “Shilpa Yoga ” video “Yoga is a lifestyle choice. It works on the mind, body, and soul. It integrates you because it is a new way of life, a better way of life, a complete way of life. It is something I will do for the rest of my life”. We should try to integrate Yoga in our daily lives to reap its benefits.
  2. Immunity Booster Kadha – This kadha is recommended by The Ministry of Ayush. I prefer adding a pinch of Turmeric (Haldi)and Liquorice Mulethi to it.
    Ingredients to make one cup of kadha
    • 2 cups of Water
    • 1” grated Ginger
    • 4 Black Raisins (Munakka) cut in half
    • 4-5 cloves (Laung) coarsely crushed
    • 8-10 Basil Leaves (Tulsi)
    • 2 Green Cardamom (Hari Elaichi) coarsely crushed
    • 1 Bay Leaf (Tej Patta)
    • 2” Cinnamon (Dalchini)
    • A Pinch of Turmeric (Haldi)
    • 2” Liquorice (Mulethi) coarsely crushed
    Take 2 cups of water boil it and add the ingredients mentioned above. Boil till it is reduced to half then add Gur and a dash of lemon. Drink it every day.
    The ingredients in this kadha have many antibacterial and anti-viral properties which will help in fighting against viral infections, sore throat, and the common cold.
  3. Drink warm water throughout the day. It relieves nasal congestion.
  4. Steam Inhalation – Steam Inhalation with fresh Pudina or Carom seeds (Ajwain). I prefer adding ½ tsp of table salt in steam water for inhalation. It helps in clearing the respiratory tract by break up phlegm and mucus, making it easier to expel.
  5. Golden Milk– Talk a Glass of Milk, and ¼ tsp of turmeric (Haldi) bring it to boil then add ½ tbsp of Honey and drink it when it is warm every night before going to bed. This milk has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal Properties which builds immunity.
  6. Apply Ghee/ Sesame oil/ Coconut oil in both the Nostrils. This will prevent the entrance of pollutants present in the air you breathe.
  7. Take Cloves (Laung) Powder with Honey 2-3 times a Day in case of sore throat.
  8. Massage– Take mustard oil, heat it, add fenugreek seeds, and carom seed to it. Apply this warm oil on the chest before going to bed. It gives relief in cold and helps in giving sound sleep.
  9. Keep a piece of Liquorice (Mulethi) between your teeth and try to swallow its juice. It helps in curing sore throat and subsides coughing.
  10. Take 2 tbsp of homemade milk cream, stir it, and add crushed black pepper before going to bed. It cures dry cough.
  11. Chavanprash -Taking 2 tbsp of Chavanprash daily controls cold and cough and rejuvenates lungs.
    Many research claims that the herbal ingredients in Chavanprash help to improve immunity and physical strength.
  12. Take one glass of water put it for boiling add 1 tsp of tea. Gargle with it. It relieves from throat infection.
  13. Drink tea add Ginger and cardamom also to it.

    Interesting! I love that you included exercise in here for immunity. Research has also shown time in nature can boost immunity. And I always love fresh foods with vitamin C like citrus, strawberries, bell peppers and guava! Yum.

  5. Using common kitchen spices more frequently in our meals and beverages is a great way to take in the antioxidant and immune strengthening properties of herbs. I use turmeric daily.

    I have also enjoyed yoga for years, although it’s been an on again, off again practice. Time to get back on it! Another benefit of yoga is that the breathwork strengthens the lungs and reduces stress. Meet you on the mat!
